Perhaps the most nerve-wracking week of this year’s Mackenzie Tour season will take place in a new home at the Ontario Championship hosted by National Pines Golf Club just 45 minutes north of Toronto.
The event represents the final chance for players to qualify for the season-ending Freedom 55 Financial hampionship—and keep their card to play on the Mackenzie Tour for the following year The top 60 players on the Order of Merit at week’s end will secure a spot in the field in London the following week, meaning the pressure will be on as the season starts to enter crunch time. National Pines. a 7,013-yard Tom McBroom layout, has a history with high-calibre events, having hosted the Mackenzie Tour’s finale tournament in 2007 and 2008..11011g the contenders in those days was current PGA TOUR player and Olympian Graham DeLaet, who still speaks highly of the course to this day. these great memories of competing at National Pines in 2008, and I know it will be an awesome host for a tourna-ment like this,” said DeLaet. ‘The guys that will be playing there are trying to make their way to the PGA TOUR, and this is going to be a great venue for those players to compete cane chance to make the next step in that direction.” Located just north of Toronto up High-way 400, National Pines is one of McBroom’s signature layouts, offering players a complete golf experience and a challenge that will make for a strong test -of skill and nerves – for Mackenzie Tour players this September.
